Loving the Coolio thread. RIP
Remember when Coolio did a gig in Preston, ran into a group of random students outside afterwards and went back to their place, where he made Caprese Salad, Chicken á la Daaaamn and Peach Crumble, and they jammed Gangster's Paradise. What a guy.

This is the level of disdain at the heart of the truss policy. Never mind the anxiety felt by ordinary families, or the financial collapse, all the old people whose pensions deteriorate and worry about putting the heating on. It’s really just about the Tories’ survival
Of course the polls are going to be dire for the Tories this side of Christmas. Central to Liz Truss’s pitch. Take on the dragons. Make the difficult policy choices. Be damned with the immediate term popularity contests. Those are for next year, as policy begins to pay off.

Cutting @BBC language services is one of the very saddest and most shortsighted decisions in a week of calamitous tragic and shortsighted decisions….
Radio services the BBC is proposing to stop: Arabic, Persian, Kyrgyz, Uzbek, Hindi, Bengali, Chinese, Indonesian, Tamil, Urdu. Language services the BBC is proposing to move to digital only are: Chinese, Gujarati, Igbo, Indonesian, Pidgin, Urdu, Yoruba. bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/2022/b…

It's quite surreal that a man I've listened to in the afternoon from around 1981 on @BBCR1 and now on @BBCRadio2 is coming to an end tomorrow. Im genuinely gutted. Thanks Steve Wright for making me laugh over the last 40 years. He's like a favourite uncle. Thank you #sobbing no G

Still amazed at how so many Londoners still haven’t got the memo on removing backpacks during morning rush hour. Can we be less selfish?! #publictransport

Say what you like about the Beeb…but this image shouts s thousand words. None of them complimentary
The problem isn’t a Truss or even a Tory one, it’s a UK one. This nation is on a downward path. I’m old enough to remember when @Conservatives got rid of a liability quickly. They need to recover that backbone….if they still have one.
The intractable truss problem: She cant fire her chancellor because theyre in it together; she cant change her mind - because her strength/ ideology is her USP; she cant call a GE because she'd lose - on current polling - badly enough to put Cons out of power for a decade..

Churchill said that “under any healthy manifestation of democracy”, The 1st duty of an MP is to do what he thinks is right & necessary for the honour & safety of Great Britain. His second is to his constituents. Duty to Party organisation or programme should come LAST OF ALL.

Sad to see lots of snobby tweets about local radio. These presenters are some of the best in the business and have a closer and better understanding of their listeners' lives than any network presenter. And these interviews are often the toughest for politicians.

Rishi needs Boris out of the way before he makes his move to remove Truss. Because Boris can be on the next leadership ballot and he will win the member's votes. The coup continues.

Can we just be clear. The current crisis has been precipitated by the mini-budget. Not fears of a Labour government. Not closet Corbynites lurking in the IMF. The mini-budget did this. And if it isn’t significantly reversed, the political and economic crisis will continue.
Starmer’s “Country first, party second” stance was a masterstroke at a time when a significant number of politicians are so transparently in it for themselves and not public service.

Replying to @PetronellaWyatt
But Major was seen as a decent, if a bit weak, man with some political integrity. No-one in today's tories is seen like that, they are seen as corrupt, criminal and our only for themselves and their rich cronies, donors and friends

Thank you 1922 committee! You are a disgrace for forcing Boris to resign. Boris was only 4 points behind in the polls and on track for election victory. #vonc1922

Guys, I think Liz Truss might need some new advisers.
Arrogant and offensive. Can you imagine having to work with these truth twisters?
