Last week we didn’t know where things were going. Our 15.5 year old dog (tan/white) wasn’t doing great & worried she may be close to end of life. We made her a bed downstairs & when we did her sister decide to stay alongside her until she felt better. We don’t deserve dogs.
The abortion Craig and I had 22 years ago allowed us the time to become sober - and then to create careers and a healthy family. Our abortion saved our lives.
Day 14 - 2 weeks of sobriety. A mere drop in the ocean compared to the number of weeks that I’ve been wasted in my life, but I suppose that’s precisely why it feels like such an achievement! Each day is a new milestone #ODAAT. #RecoveryPosse
On his own, my 6yo washed his mom’s car in the driveway tonight. Then went inside to get her and when she came out he said “Surprise!! I love you”. I just wanted to break up the doom scrolling by sharing that.
When we moved from NC to IN I didn’t have a local sober community. Built it over 8 years. Now, such a blessing to have connections all over the world, from public talks & virtual recovery meetings. They all will travel w/ me! But, also excited to meet new sober friends in CO!
This image is my father personified. He often kept my awards to display in his own office—and didn’t give them back. Ha.
My sweet dad departed this life on 6/22/22. So grateful that all I have to do is miss him. He gave me all I needed to win.

Pediatrician here. This isn't about babies, because if it were, we'd support kids & families with health care, high-quality education, universal child care, reliable housing, access to healthy food. This is about controlling women's bodies.
In preparation for intern year, I already signed up for a therapist (free with the program) because as a first generation high school to MD graduate, black male who stutters… I’m going to need all the tools to fight my own fears and words from others✊🏽
