Having pressed so hard on this I am delighted that @hmtreasury will bring @OBR_UK forecast/MTFP forward from 23/11 into Oct. @KwasiKwarteng has listened. Key now that fiscal targets + tax & spend plan is firmly credible & reassures markets. This could ease rate rises for millions

Journalist @Alain_Tolhurst rightly notes in this morning's Health & Social Care interview* panel; "it's easier to keep rather than train" staff. Recruitment isn't the only answer - retention is key if we're to #ReviveTheNHS this winter. (*the interview Coffey didn't attend)

Unless growth shoots up the government will need to bring down borrowing through spending cuts - but the markets can see there just isn't the money in departmental budgets to do it
Economists don't think government can deliver big enough spending cuts to calm markets politicshome.com/news/articl鈥

For example last week's tax cuts will cost 拢45bn according to the Treasury. The entire MoJ budget is 拢9bn. This government would need Osborne-level austerity to trim the deficit in the next spending envelope - but markets don't believe they will even be around to enact those cuts

That's why the government is betting so much on growth to help lower debt in the medium term - the job for Kwasi Kwarteng is now to convince everyone his supply side reforms can bring that about

If he can't then we're likely to see further market turmoil following his next fiscal statement on November 23
