Far from their being a standing order that everything he brought back to the residence was declassified, there’s tons of reporting on Trump’s staff being constantly alarmed and trying to dust the Cheetos off all the classified documents and put them back.
Trump now claiming he had a “standing order” to instantly declassify anything he brought to his residence. Unclear if anyone has seen or knows of the existence of such an order.
1.) 42 U.S.C. § 2011 — Presidents cannot declassify spy identities or nuclear secrets.
2.) 44 U.S.C § 2201 — Presidents cannot decide what to keep as Presidential Records. All such documents belong to the United States. He cannot take them because they are not his.
