This is the story of my family, and of my Mom -- who we lost to cancer when I was 13 years old. Her courage and resilience inspires me to be brave, and to fight for Florida families. Her story hasn't ended, but it’s up to us to write the next chapter. We start in November. #HD47

I appreciate that. I have one big ask - a few months after Irma this issue was all but forgotten by all but a few Seminole county legislators. This will keep happening if we don't change what we're doing. Please don't forget & do what you can to change what's happening here.

Stadiums are an interesting land use case. Huge venues that are valuable to a community, but they’re empty 90% of the time I’d like to see more stadiums find ways to bring value to the community when there isn’t a game being played Real Madrid is a good ex. of what’s possible

Most eyes are on SW Florida post-Ian, where the death toll is highest. But Volusia County across the state has had many death as Collier County. Also: Dunes All But Gone Along Flagler’s 18-Mile Shore, Leaving A1A and Properties Dangerously Exposed flaglerlive.com/181495/flagl…

Not sure if folks already saw this but yesterday in Harmony Shores residents were given a four hour notice to leave their mobile home park community (due to damage from Ian) and were given no alternative place to go. 1/2

According to this IG post State House Rep(s) showed up to support but this is another example of the struggles Floridians are facing as we navigate the impact of Ian & how natural disasters disproportionately impact some communities more when compared to others. 2/2

Orange County Public Works debris removal contractors are scheduled to deploy tomorrow to collect large storm debris in unincorporated Orange County. Crews will make multiple passes thru communities to be able to collect all storm debris, focusing on vegetative debris first. ⬇️

Incredible solidarity. Women & girls around the world continue to demonstrate their strength and bravery.
Brave Afghan women in Kabul protest in solidarity with Iranian women in front of Iran’s embassy. “Woman, life and freedom!”

And the continued huge reliance of federal government money to bail us out too. If corporations in FL paid their taxes vs exploit loopholes than maybe we could better take care of the people who take care of us.
Replying to @AnnaForFlorida
Florida has the lowest public payroll expenditures per capita of any state. And it's not even close. Like so many other disasters (natural and man-made) Hurricane Ian is shining on light on the high cost of small government.

I've asked DCF & Governor's Office these questions, but really want to make sure we are staffed up to provide quick access to D-SNAP & that staff are compensated for what will be challenging work environments. DCF employees are already underpaid, overworked & have HUGE caseloads.

This is part of an email that frontline staff have received. Many of our state workers have just started making a little over $15 a hour.
