So where exactly are these Alberta nationalist-separatists going to go? They do realise that they're on land that does not belong to them, and they're not taking it with them, right?
Speaker should be stepping down, but he likely won't.
Today, Speaker of the Legislature Nathan Cooper attended a news conference launching a Free Alberta Strategy to make Alberta a "sovereign jurisdiction."
The Speaker is meant to be an impartial representative of the assembly.

I wasn't around when Reform Party formed, but from reading it was a plucky, reactionary movement derided by pundits. Then it won seats, became prominent & took over the Progressive Conservative Party of Canada (I was there for that). History says PPC shouldn't be taken lightly.
