Sounds like a nice amount, but not when you know that the Norwegian state will have 70 bn euro in extra oil revenues this year. Yes, extra, on top of already decent revenues (from taxes, ownership etc)

1 billion is a very nice, nothing to scoff at. We all can do more.

I'm sure Ukraine is happy to get that billion. Sure, every Western Democracy across the globe could be doing more (and I hope they all will), but we should still be grateful for what they've been doing -- namely giving Ukraine unprecedented levels of support.

Norway鈥檚 GDP per capita is almost 7x higher than Russia and their quality of life index is 60 countries higher. Russia鈥檚 standard of living and economy is a joke for how resource rich they are.

Norways aid budget is among the highest in the world as a percentage of gdp regardless of oil price is high or low and whether populist rigths parties are in government. And it's been stable for long time.

It's about 1.4% of the expected windfall. Combined with their other contributions to date and likely future additions, will probably go above the 2% NATO target - on top of their existing defense allocations.
