Hi guys, I'm a passionate Wildlife Gardener living in Dublin 12. I'm also a HSP (Highly Sensitive Person) suffering from anxiety. Being in nature is ESSENTIAL for our Mental Health, but we also need people who care about us. AM GETTING OLDER + LOOKING FOR A FRIEND! ๐Ÿ˜

Here's an example of a gorgeous 'Don't Mow, Let It Grow' action, probably by @DCCParksBiodiv @DubCityCouncil, near Dolphin's Barn (photos taken in 2020). Yet, there's so much money being spent on non-native, alien planting schemes nearby. ๐Ÿ˜ข @ray_cun @PollinatorPlan @EamonRyan

Hi, @DCCParksBiodiv @DubCityCouncil: This is not implementing real biodiversity actions in Dublin 12! Alien bulb mixes (while our native wildflowers are being mown to death), exotic trees (and plants) in boxes, as well as fumigated little wildlife patches. Shameful. ๐Ÿ˜ข @ray_cun

Aren't our native thistles just so beautifully constructed? ๐Ÿ˜ฎ Such intricate detail and the flowers are to die for. ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿ˜Š Thistles are magnets for all sorts of insects. ๐Ÿ๐Ÿฆ‹๐Ÿž๐Ÿชฒ๐Ÿ•ท๏ธ I โค๏ธโค๏ธโค๏ธ these prickly little beauties.

A tweet is a good tweet, when it makes you smile. This has definitely put a smile on my face. ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿฆ†
This is Norman. He has been coming to the garden for about 5 years. He has a slight limp, from an injury a couple of years ago, and mostly sits to eat. He is such a gentle soul. #30DaysWild #ducks #gardenlife #Norfolk

Oh My God! Have we gone completely bonkers?? ๐Ÿ˜ฎ๐Ÿ˜ข
That annoying moment when you're ironing the garden on too high a setting!

Killing trees that are over 1000 yrs old is fundamentally wrong! Everyone chime in on this plz
Over 1100 people have been arrested trying to protect these giants from being logged. Only a fraction of large old growth remain in B.C. and they keep falling. Protect our elders. #ActOnClimate #Climate #FairyCreek #bcpoli #bcgov @jjhorgan @bcndp pics by @TJWattPhoto

WOW, have just spotted my first ever cinnabar moth in my urban wildlife garden! Such a beautiful creature. Only breeds on our native ragwort (senecio jacobaea), which is still considered a noxious weed. ๐Ÿ˜Š๐ŸŒฟ @DCCParksBiodiv @DubCityCouncil @SavePoddle #rewilding #saynotothemow

Agreed, but this also goes for the ordinary person and everyone else on this planet. We ALL have a role to play, if we want to survive. ๐ŸŒ๐ŸŒŽ๐ŸŒ
The wonderful @GretaThunberg tells Glastonbury Festival that we must take a stand, here and now, and stop the rich and powerful destroying our Earth support systems. No one else is going to save us.

Our environment is not only beautiful, but crucial to our well-being and survival. Starting soon, we're going to shine a light each week on a different person from around Ireland who works to give it a helping hand. Please consider a follow & retweet!

Not everything is the fault of our councils, though: too many local residents are still tidying up nature in their own private gardens, which could be invaluable refuges for our dwindling wildlife. ๐Ÿ˜ข @PollinatorPlan @ray_cun @SavePoddle #rewilding #wildflowers #saynotothemow

Hi, @DCCParksBiodiv, @DubCityCouncil: What is the point of these boxes full of dried-up exotics, please? The only good thing about this photo is the little wildflower, which has bravely self-seeded in this unsightly mess. ๐Ÿ˜ข @ray_cun @SavePoddle #rewilding #wildflowers

Our beautiful native wildflowers are constantly tidied up, yet some of them prevail - albeit in tiny pockets. When are we going to stop persecuting nature on our own doorstep? ๐Ÿ˜ข @DCCParksBiodiv @DubCityCouncil @ray_cun @SavePoddle #rewilding #wildflowers #saynotothemow #dontmow

It's that time of year again, sadly, when you have to fight for every little scrap and patch of greenness daring to rear its head in this concrete jungle they call #Dublin. Sick and tired of local authorities @DubCityCouncil cleaning away the life blood of our community & nature.
Sad. Who gets to decide where our plants are 'allowed' to exist? DCC really know how to kill (bio)diversity. Everything cleansed & so scarily uniform. They'll prob be making their way up my road soon. Warning them to steer clear with a specially commissioned sign on my gate! ๐Ÿ˜…

Last October I did a thread on Uragh, one of Ireland's last surviving remnants of ancient rainforest by the shores of Lough Inchiquin in Kerry. Several days later, a commitment was given in the Dรกil that measures would be put in place to restore the wood's ecological integrity.

My Irish native meadowsweet (filipendula ulmaria) is starting to show signs of drought. It hasn't rained in nearly two weeks here in Dublin 12 and the ground is starting to dry up fast. Thank God, there's rain forcast for tomorrow. Fingers crossed. ๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿ˜ง #ClimateEmergency
