When your third grader brings home a recorder from music class, is there a world in which you do not take it and play a spirited, if not squeaky, rendition of Hot Cross Buns? No, there is no such world.

Defending Big Tech is just a fact-free reflex for some. The SCOTUS case does not involve censorship. Nor does it involve simply “leaving content up.” It is about something different—whether 230 shields Google from liability for affirmatively recommending ISIS videos to users.
Anti-"censorship" conservatives celebrating the SCOTUS cert. grant in Gonzalez v. Google -- a suit that seeks to remove Sec. 230 protection when platforms *left content up* -- remind me of Randy in South Park attacking the American government by burning down a Federal Express.

The @FCC’s latest Hurricane Ian outage report continues to show substantial progress in maintaining and restoring communications services. Appreciate the hard work of the telecom crews out there on the ground. fcc.gov/document/hurricane-i…
The @FCC’s Hurricane Ian outage report for today, Sept 30, is out. It largely shows some progress in getting cell & wireline service back up and running—though these figures can bump around in first few days. Thank you to the crews getting this done! 💪 fcc.gov/document/hurricane-i…

Pleased to see the Supreme Court taking up a Section 230 case. For years, courts have been conferring special protections on tech companies by reading immunities into Section 230 that are found nowhere in the text of the law. Hope that trends reverses. usatoday.com/story/news/poli…

We worked with @SpaceX to deploy 120 large Starlink units to Southwest Florida that will provide broadband, fast.   Thanks to your innovative technology, Floridians will be able to better connect with their loved ones.

The @FCC has teams on the ground in Florida assessing communications networks and acting to help carriers maintain and restore services. On the mobile side, I would encourage providers to allow each other to roam during the disaster where feasible given network conditions.

Congratulations to the United States’ candidate, Doreen Bogdan-Martin, on her election today to serve as Secretary-General of the U.N.’s telecom agency. Ms. Bogdan-Martin won the Member State vote 139 to 25 over Russian candidate Rashid Ismailov.
The U.S. and Russia have offered up competing candidates to head the U.N.’s telecom arm. And Russia’s candidate is a former Huawei executive to boot. It is more important than ever that the U.S.’s Doreen Bogdan-Martin prevail in this fall’s vote. washingtonpost.com/politics/…
