My piece in today’s @irish_news👇🏻 “Three quarters of those elected to the Assembly want to get back to work immediately to tackle the cost of living crisis... The DUP should stop punishing people for its political mistakes and let us get on with the job we were elected to do.”

A real pleasure to visit @StMarys_Belfast today on #WorldTeachersDay and meet to students and staff. So many teachers across the north have come through St Mary’s and as an institution it is going from strength to strength. Great to hear the exciting plans for the future.

Big energy CEO asking to be taxed on excess profits - this Tory government continues to be tone deaf 🤦🏼‍♀️ A further windfall tax that actually cuts profits is needed and used to help fund supports for workers, families and businesses.
The CEO of Shell has called on the government to tax oil and gas companies in order to protect the poorest people in society from soaring energy costs trib.al/8JbTe0f

This is grotesque. Those are people she is talking about, people who’ve fled war, persecution and hunger, and not an ounce of empathy or compassion - it’s contemptible.

It is good that these services have now been reinstated. However the full abortion services that women here are legally entitled to need to be commissioned without further delay.
Breaking from @WesternHSCTrust: “The Western Trust Early Medical Abortion Service has now gone live and is available to those living in the Trust area. “We apologise that this service had not been in place within the Western Trust for the past year.” @BBCNewsNI

Great to see the launch of this consultation on increasing local control over taxation by @conormurphysf. The cost of living crisis and the current dysfunction and incompetence displayed in Westminster over the mini-budget adds impetus to the importance of this discussion.

The Tory government has made a mess of the economy, failed ordinary people & pushed up people’s mortgages with their outrageous budget. People need help now. We need an Executive up & running now so locally elected ministers can work together to put money in people’s pockets.

While everyone is talking about the screeching u-turn on abolition of 45p tax rate, the British Chancellor has also confirmed no inflationary uplift to budgets meaning a £18 billion/yr shortfall for public services! That’s the price of the Tories reckless give-away to the rich.
