Thank you to @Heather_WCH and her inspiring team at @WCHospital for organizing this beautiful commemoration every year. I was so honoured to be asked to provide a few words and light a candle to honour Geneviève Bergeron.
We’re honoured to welcome @Carolyn_Bennett to today’s ceremony and provide remarks in remembrance of the victims of gender-based violence. womenscollegehospital.ca/wer… #December6

Today, we honour the memory of the women we have lost. Those lives that ended too soon. We remember and honour the survivors and the families whose lives have been changed forever.

Now, 100 years later, we have over 100 women in Parliament, the highest number of women ever to sit in the House of Commons. This is important progress, but we must continue encouraging women to follow in Agnes’ footsteps- especially those from diverse communities.

Each year, #December6 marks the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence against Women. We honour the 14 brilliant women who were murdered in 1989 at l'École Polytechnique de Montréal simply because they were women.

We also recognize the ongoing impacts of gender-based violence and commit to continue fighting the misogyny & hatred that fueled this tragic event. Far too many women, girls and gender diverse Canadians continue to face unacceptable violence and discrimination.

On this #InternationalVolunteerDay it was great to recognize all the amazing people in #TOStPauls who contribute to our federal and provincial Liberal associations. We celebrated the holidays @OakwoodHardware, lit the Hanukiah, and donated hot meals to Cornerstone Place shelter.

It was great to be able to drop off delicious @OakwoodHardware food at Cornerstone Place Shelter on Vaughan road with @NathanStall. This holiday season it is important that we do whatever we can to support the community organizations who help our most vulnerable neighbours.

Beautiful to join the LGBTQ2+ community tonight for the 7th candle of #Hannukah #חנוכה. No one should ever have to hide who they are and be in darkness. The light is brighter this year with the passing of C-4. חג חנוכה שמח Chag Samayach.
Lovely to join MP @YaaraSaks for a special “queerified” Hanukkah celebration hosted in Barbara Hall Park by the @ChurchWellesley BIA

Great segment on @CBCTheHouse today. Thanks @HannahThibedeau & team. Agnes Macphail represented part of my riding at Queen's Park after her time in federal politics starting the train of brilliant women leaders serving East York for decades like True Davidson and @Kathleen_Wynne.
Monday marks 100 years since the election of Canada’s first female MP, Agnes Macphail. House producer @jchevalier takes a look back at her political career and CBC’s @HannahThibedeau hears from politicians past and present on the anniversary. #cdnpoli cbc.ca/1.6272249
