More prosecutable evidence exists against #Assad than we had against #Hitler -- so the recent wave of regional re-engagement is morally repulsive. For those who think geopolitics is a worthy excuse, there's a need to get a grip over reality. My latest (Ar.), for @aawsat_News:
"على المستوى الأخلاقي، قليلون قد يجادلون في أن إعادة التعامل مع نظام #الأسد في #سوريا أمر مقيت. لكن بالنسبة لأولئك الذين يزعمون أن إعادة الانخراط خطوة ضرورية لتحقيق الحد من المنافسين الإقليميين، هناك حاجة للحفاظ على السيطرة على الواقع." مقالتي الجديدة: aawsat.com/node/3323516

"When it comes to commercial ties with #Syria, there are no holds barred" -- per #Jordan official. "Syria’s readmission [to the Arab League] is chiefly dealt with now behind closed doors" -- 9 Arab FMs want #Assad back, per #Egypt official. thenationalnews.com/mena/202…

#Jordan & #Syria reopened their "Joint Free Zone" yesterday to "create a gateway for #Syria’s reconstruction." This comes alongside recent border security, water & gas/electricity deals -- BUT we're yet to see #Assad give anything in this purported "step for step" re-engagement.

the west hasn't learned anything from Afghanistan, instead of re-engagement with the regime, try to see if the "rebels" can replace him. what will they do when they replace the regime by force.. even in Afghanistan, Taliban replacing the regime was not predicted..
