A couple of days ago a tweet accused me of supporting the CPC (actually they said CCP, but we'll let that slide) I thought about it and realised I actually do support the CPC and there are some damn good reasons for doing so, so I wrote them and made this invidious.fdn.fr/4SXmCCT-qcQ

Some claimed that, by suspending China-US climate talks, China is punishing the whole world. But the US is not the whole world. China will stay committed to its climate goals, and actively participate in international cooperation on #ClimateAction, as we have always done.

I told @JohnKingCNN that Speaker Pelosi’s visit to China's Taiwan region is a reckless & provocative move. It is a major event upgrading the substantive relations btw the US and Taiwan, & sends a very wrong signal to “Taiwan independence” separatist forces.
#breaking China announces military drills at multiple locations around Taiwan island at the same time as Speaker Pelosi landed in Taipei. Drills beginning during the overnight hours here are happening very close to the Taiwan shoreline. @InsidePolitics @JohnKingCNN

And China is only exercising its right as any independent sovereign country would, not to mention that China is a country of more than 1.4 billion people with over 5,000 years of history. We hope that the US is clear-eyed about that.

The US & Taiwan have made provocations together first, whereas China has been compelled to act in self-defense. Any countermeasure to be taken by China would be a justified & necessary response to the US oblivion to China's repeated démarches and the US’s unscrupulous behavior.
