so, I'm in a little (very little) bit of a better place mentally than I was yesterday. I think I can muster the energy to install my new SSD and install a new OS later today. I *think* I might go with Debian?

My current 1TB hard drive that I use for everything is going to house my /home directory. The SSD will be for the OS only.

also need to figure out how to set that up without destroying everything in my path. Definitely gonna do a full backup of /home to my external HDD, and then *disconnect the external drive from the PC* before installing anything

i can say that fedora is kinda pleasant, but if you've never had an rpm distro before it can be frustrating at the start, as it was for me. tbh i only sticked with it long enough because i had a friend who reassured me, and some other friends who could do rpm and dnf magic

oh, but I used the plasma spin and the xfce spin, not the gnome "default" version, so cannot vouch for that at all

My first distro was Debian! I think if you want stability, Debian is really a good choice

Yeah, at this point, stability and usability are all I want. Now to pick a DE, lol. I want something lightweight and has that Windows Classic feel. I've been using MATE for the past five years, but there've been some design and stability issues and I'm ready to move on
