An absolute must-read from @CallumCMason on @tes today about how hundreds of schools are repeatedly denied funding for major school improvement projects - from replacing fire alarm systems to collapsing ceilings.
Crumbling buildings, broken kitchens, bizarre fire alarm arrangements: an investigation by @CallumCMason uncovers shocking inconsistencies in the ways schools are allocated funding for essential repairs, with some schools being refused help eight times tes.com/magazine/news/genera…

Really not a fan of all this morally loaded "workers must show pay restraint" rhetoric. It's entirely rational for people facing 10% inflation to try to get a pay rise. Tell them no if you want, but don't tell them they were wrong to even ask.

Teachers and heads - how are things going during today's rail strikes? Have staff been able to get in, pupils been able to make it to exams etc. What contingency plans have you put in place to mitigate problems? DMs are open! #journorequest

I've been puzzling about that Carrie/foreign office SPAD story the Times because I was sure I'd seen it before. And then I realised I had because it was in the serialisation of Ashcroft's Carrie book in the Mail, which is still online. dailymail.co.uk/news/article…

The post opening credits scene of Live and Let Die has the farce and comedy timing of Not Going Out or Frasier. None of that in the po-faced modern Bonds.
