Gov. Gavin Newsom has signed a new bill into law that requires CA companies and hiring managers to include pay scales in job postings and provide them to employees upon request. This bill forces employers to be transparent about their salaries, and gives more power to workers.

We have seen what happens when companies and corporations are not required to be transparent with their employment practices. Governor Gavin Newsom signed this law to protect workers from this type of behavior: invidious.fdn.fr/37lSL-hf43M

Good move. I'm no longer in the workforce. During job interviews I was routinely never provided any wages details. It was viewed very suspect to inquire. The whole farce was that wages shouldn't be a factor in your seeking of employment with such a wonderful employer. Control. 🙄

Job hunting requires knowing if the job will cover the basics. Companies insisted on keeping salaries and wages secret, even after a person was hired, so they could continue to practice discrimination based on race, sex, ethnic origin, and religion.

Terrific. It’s ridiculous the dance one must do in interviews. They want to know your life history, including salary, but what they pay is a big secret. Love how they base what they want to pay you based on previous salaries. Qualifications be damned.

I once told a potential employer I would reveal my past salary when they shared the salary for the open position. Never, ever sell yourself short.
