Big news today for those interested in a sustainable forest industry for our province for generations. Very proud of my colleague @KatrineConroy leading this difficult but important work about taking better care of our rare and at-risk old growth forests.
In line with our new vision for forest care, today we announced our intention to work in partnership with First Nations to defer harvesting within 2.6 million hectares of our most at-risk old growth forests.news.gov.bc.ca/releases/2021… #bcpoli 🧵

UBC has lost a great friend in Cornelia Oberlander. She helped design the landscaping for the Museum of Anthropology and the C. K. Choi Building. And her family helped shape the university we know today vancouversun.com/news/local-…

So proud of UBC's role in the science underlying the Moderna vaccine I got last week at, yes, UBC. Thanks UBC scientists, and thanks Nurse Sandra for the quick and painless jab!
Network analysis of intellectual property that paved the way for COVID-19 mRNA vaccines such as Pfizer/BioNTech and Moderna shows that two universities: University of Pennsylvania and the University of British Columbia played key roles. Nat Biotechnol 39, 546–548 (2021).

So grateful for the work of front-line non-profit staff, BC Housing, the city and the Park Board; the patience of the neighbours; and most importantly, the trust of the campers. A good day yesterday. More to do. vancouversun.com/news/local-…
