What child ‘migrants’ look like. First one made the journey on his own at 15 yrs. Other two with mum & sister. Luckily no lorry or dingy ~30 years ago. First one is a Consultant & other 2 are GPs in #NHS taking 🇬🇧 jobs, seeing 🇬🇧 patients. Who are we? My cousin, me, my brother.

.@BBB_Health generously sponsored my training in neurogenic tremoring via @LumosTransforms Resilience Toolkit Certification Programme. I look forward to completing training and being able to offer this practice to staff and patients alike. @DrSelvarajah @DrKhyatiBakhai

GMC effectively and rightly exonerates #DrArora over the laptop issue. This is a huge victory for common sense and those of you who raised this in many forums openly and privately. Great outcome. Never give up. pulsetoday.co.uk/news/breaki…

My new job involves estimating the crowd sizes at outdoor music festivals, including Glastonbury. I wonder how many people are in that field. #dadjokes

She may this statement is a slip of the tongue but #RoeVsWadeOverturned ruling will disproportionately affect poorer women many of whom happen to be #Black and #Latinx women. Illinois Republican tells Trump rally that Roe verdict a ‘victory for white life’ theguardian.com/us-news/2022…

Another example of #adultification of #Black children. He is 14 years old! Pls don’t wonder why 3 adults, fully trained in Policing felt the need to hold him to the ground in a brutal way. Needless to say, he wasn’t the boy they were looking for.
'I thought I was going to die' Black schoolboy, forced to ground in mistaken stop and search. The schoolboy's mother told me she feared her son would be the next George Floyd- her son suffers from asthma & was walking home from school. Here's my exclusive @itvnews report RT

Need to end the inconsistency in direct access imaging for patients in #TeamGP . In some areas GPs can request ultra sound (US), CT & MRI scans. In others just USS. Then there are restrictions on type of CT scans too. This issue is one of the rate limiting factors in referrals.

We can’t have a situation where one tiny section of the society keeps getting richer whilst vast majority are having to bear the #CostOfLivingCrisis or are there to service the needs of that tiny section. Everyone needs to be in this equally. That’s how you build progressive 🇬🇧.

One of the young ST1 (1st yr) international GP trainees I support as IMG programme director has already reached out very worried about @ukhomeoffice visa rules that can kick them out of 🇬🇧 at end of GP training. We have a huge shortage of GPs and this is causing massive anxiety.

Pre-pandemic, people used to laugh out loud at my #dadjokes in our F2F meetings. Now, no one laughs at my jokes in zoom meetings. It turns out, they don’t find me remotely funny.

If confirmation needed that the @PayReviewBodies process is broken here it is👇🏽 After everything NHS staff have been through they are ‘rewarded’ with a 6% effective pay cut. The pay recommendation for @TheBMA doctors is awaited. What’s your guess - HIGHER or LOWER than 4%

Email received today from NHSBSA. A 35% increase in retirement applications from NHS staff is unsustainable for the future of our NHS. If you keep kicking staff, they will leave even if they don’t want to leave the patients behind.

Chicken pox: Calamine lotion- severe stock shortages. Alternatives Virasoothe, PoxClin, Eurax also have severe stock issues. Can get E45 itch relief cream, but can go out of stock soon. Sudocrem can help soothe and provide some relief. Oral antihistamines can be used too.

So, @FourteenFish which provides mandatory eportfolio platform for all GP trainees is now part of @EMISHealth . EMIS is about to be sold to Optum which is part of United Health, a massive US healthcare corporation. What’s @rcgp position on all this? What do GP trainees think?

Well done @TheBMA . Standing in solidarity with our rail workers. Workers in the UK have had an extended, unnecessary austerity imposed on them for 13 yrs.
We stand alongside rail workers in their defence of their livelihoods, working conditions and the future of the rail network bma.org.uk/bma-media-centre/…

#RCGPcouncil - update on exams: commitment that they are cost neutral. Fine, glad @rcgp isn't using it to make a profit, but it is still WAY too expensive to trainees - especially those who have to sit multiple times... cf. e.g. RCP PACES it is nearly x 4 the cost...

My amma. Started as a teacher at 18, still working at 80. Very independent, earned more than my dad. She had me, her eldest of 3, at 36yrs old when she was ready. Not the norm in 70s SriLanka, but many women like her were starting to take their rights. #WomensRightsAreHumanRights

Many of my patients with chronic diseases are struggling with #CostOfLivingCrisis . They’re finding it difficult to put food on the table for their families let alone lead a healthier lifestyle which would help manage their conditions better.
