This #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek it's important to recognise that digitally 'fixing' body shapes to fit someone else’s ideal has become normalised, creating a warped sense of reality, to the point that it is damaging the mental health of children and adults. (1/2)

Indeed, fascinating discussion about current war in #Ukraine but also the long history of tech innovation in #Estonia and visionary decisions made by @EstonianGovt in early days after re-establishing their independence.
Interesting exchange with former @EstonianGovt President @KerstiKaljulaid - everything from current war situation close to their borders, domestic policy and as you would expect, all things @e_estonia - thanks to @MartinJDocherty for organising.

(2/2) 77 MPs from 7 different parties - covering every end of the political spectrum - have supported my call for organisations to commit to not digitally manipulate a person's body proportions in any direct imagery. Such wide ranging support shows how important an issue this is!

Here’s a thought I want to share. A few friends completely dropped off the radar when my Mum was ill & after she died. Subsequently people say “we thought we’d leave you alone” or “we weren’t sure whether to text or not”. Please don’t leave grieving people alone. And do text. ❤️

It’s also appalling to see the U.K. Gov risking instability in #NorthernIreland by using it to threaten the EU!
This is correct. This was @BorisJohnson oven ready deal. He owns it and trying to blame the EU and threaten to break international treaties is a failure of statecraft.

On the Protocol, Tory Chair of NI Select @Simon4NDorset: “It’s a naive nonsense for the govt to ask anyone to believe that (1) they didn’t understand what they signed up to…(2) that ministers thought the EU would behave entirely differently to that stipulated in the agreement.”

The horrifying attack by Israeli forces against mourners at the funeral of Al Jazeera journalist Shireen Abu Akleh is an outrage. *Still* waiting for UK Government condemnation & for them to demand an independent investigation into her killing - @trussliz?

We’ve already seen this power grab play out. The recently passed Policing Bill will now make it harder to stand up to power, & the govt are planning a further clampdown on protest this year. Now more than ever we need to come together to save our rights. amn.st/6019zH41X

Kwarteng‘s ignorance is truly frightening! #NorthernIrelandProtocol
Advice to govt advisers: Brief your ministers before they go on air. @KwasiKwarteng has no clue what Art 16 does (it’s not a unilateral termination clause), or why his govt’s own plan doesn’t have anything to do with Art 16 (the govt wants to introduce domestic legislation).

The cool, calm way that Finland has responded to energy blackmail from Russia has been quite something to watch. Proof that total defence with national resilience on all fronts at its core - not least on energy - has paid off for them. Much for us all to learn.

Absolutely shocking to see her coffin bearers beaten until they dropped her. #ShireenAbuAqleh
There is no shortage of distressing events in Israel and Palestine but the scenes around the funeral of murdered journalist Shireen Abu Aqleh must be examined. I will be taking this up for @theSNP when Westminster meets next week.
