So: I have an aunt, a dad, a cousin, and a partner. A best friend of 38 years. But I don’t have kids. Would you say I have no family? What about when my dad dies? Then I’m not a parent & both parents are dead. This definition is illogical.
Lol you need to broaden your mind just a little bit. Family doesn't fit into a box, don't let your mind fit into a box either. Family isn't just made up of a mom and dad and kids, couples without children are a family, a single parent home is still a family too.
Beanstalk family? Blended family? Joint family? Same-sex family? Symmetrical family? Single parent family? Horizontal family? Don't use sociological jargon to sound smart, those of us who actually study it find you laughable.
(And, from what I understand, in many traditional and indigenous cultures in the world. Funny how the narrowest definitions of family are the modern, capitalist ones. Again, thinking about WHO that benefits, by defining family so narrowly?)
