it’s basically eugenics / Nazi ideology to say that the “physically weak” are unworthy of inclusion in society
“underlying health condition” doesn’t mean they deserved to die anyway, it means they needed additional help/protection and we failed them

Well, the good news *checks notes* I'm sorry, further bad news, is that we have learned nothing in the past two years. For instance, it still hasn't sunk in that ~all covid data is a retroactive view of what already happened days/weeks ago, not what's happening right now.
An 11 day delay is potentially local transmission. Or from Egypt. Not SA. Targeted travel bans are leadership desperately wanting to be seen as doing something, even when that something is ineffective and harms people.

Hanukkah is such an empowering holiday because it is about Jews fighting back: against assimilation, violence, and powerless. Chanukah is about how being Jewish is so special, no matter how hard it can be, it’s worth fighting for.

He will have the opportunity to do some traveling. I am hopeful he will be able to make his way to Nachlaot, to see some of my favorite places.

China ain’t going to open up borders bc it’s not equipped (nor willing) to put up with the loss of life (direct from covid & indirectly from system being overwhelmed). It’s not a conspiracy to keep foreigners out. People just don’t think even 0.2% or whatever death rate is OK.

Good timing to revisit how the WHO is compromised by its subservience to China.
Replying to @EpsilonTheory
It doesn’t really matter how Covid variants are named. Skipping the letter Xi in their naming convention (designed in the first place to eliminate references to Wuhan) to arrive at Omicron is ridiculous, not dangerous.

Thoughtful thread 👇
Some quick thoughts on Omicron based on the evolving situation: Basically, I think it's bad and it portends a really tough winter when taken together with Delta, but I also don't think it's doomsday and people should pause before making overly definitive comments about it. 🧵

This explains the mystery: vaccinated passengers weren’t tested before flying, caught breakout cases & tested positive.
Replying to @gregggonsalves
Vaccinated passengers weren't tested pre-flight, so a case, or several, could easily have slipped through. Then, between flight + transit + post-flight quarantine, they were trapped in contained space (possibly poorly ventilated post flight) for ~30 hrs. nyti.ms/3cSkZAI
