what the fuck is wrong with some people my kickstarter ended 4 weeks ago, ive been sick for a week and a half, i did an update post saying why the 1st episode would take a bit longer than others, AND the kickstarter's FAQ always said the first 7 episodes will come out /in 2022/

it took me 6 months to go from concept to execution on the kickstarter but sure i'll pull out a video in 1.5 weeks (4 weeks - 1 week rest - 1.5 weeks of migraines) now because ?????????

so anyway after that adventure this code now works, yay
managed to install m68k-elf-gcc and apparently it is not interchangeable with m68k-gnu-linux-gcc, who woulda thunk! so that fixes my stdint.h/-mshort issue and also fixes this address exception i kept getting. i hope

this is important since the code i'm running is emulated so, lacking better debugging abilities, being able to print text is uhh, kinda crucial

i still dont know what the difference is between - m68k-gnu-linux and - m68k-elf because they both target the 68k and both produce an ELF binary but the former produces illegal address errors when i turn that on on my emulated chip and the latter doesn't

also m68k-elf actually works with stdint.h when i tell the compiler to treat int as 16 instead of 32 bit and m68k-gnu-linux doesn't so clearly there is a difference but nobody cares to inform you about what that difference is which is incredibly frustrating

i know linux people like to be like "just read the documentation" and i did and it doesn't explain /at all/

the only thing i can find explaining the difference is this from opensourcelibs.com/lib/sgdk_… which leaves me even more confused because... shouldn't my m68k-gnu-linux-gcc install be the same as the m68k-elf-gcc compiler i compiled from source, since WSL runs on ubuntu?

also it took me like 10 minutes to figure out how to add a directory to my path in WSL so there's that

C coders: "just use stdint.h so your types are always the expected size!" me, using -mshort on m68k-linux-gnu-gcc with stdint.h: why am i getting all these cast from pointer to integer of different size warnings 😩
