one of my fav things abt Twin Peaks is how quotable it is when u don't know wtf to say like someone asks you "how r u" or "what's wrong" & ur too deep in the shit to talk about it, so u can just answer like "sometimes my arms bend back"

or someone asks what's wrong & u just give em the classic "the owls are not what they seem" & then they'll leave u alone, problem solved

Since True Crime content is especially popular during Halloween, I want to say something about the consumption of True Crime & Murder Mystery stuff. Not to decry it or condemn it, but to urge that people absorb it thoughtfully. 1/9

2/9 I'm currently doing a more critical re-watch of Twin Peaks, after I learned Lynch's intention & message within the show is that people should think about murder stories more compassionately & less voyeuristically.

3/9 This message is a great deal more serious when the subject is True Crime & not just a fictional murder mystery soap opera like Twin Peaks.

4/9 But Twin Peaks can beautifully teach us to return to our compassion & our humanity, no matter the fascination we might have with blood & guts.

5/9 For those who don't know, the show Twin Peaks follows a plot where a young teenage girl in a smalltown, close-knit community was killed. The show goes through the aftermath & the investigation. The girl's name is Laura Palmer.

6/9 Here are some quotes I would like you to think about: "Only 17 years old." "My little girl. My baby." "It was Laura." "I promise I didn't cry. But it's so horrible." -An officer after seeing the crime scene, who then cries after saying these words.

7/9 "What is going on in this house!?" -Laura's mother in the days after Laura's death. "We have to dance. For Laura. Please, won't somebody dance with me?" -Laura's father in the days after Laura's death.

9/9 What thoughts like these do you think about when you consume True Crime content? When you watch serial killer documentaries? Do you think about the victim? The loss? Their family?

+ I'm not saying don't indulge in True Crime media, I'm not saying it's amoral for you to do this. I think it's a normal human interest. But while being human & doing this human thing, please don't forget all of the other parts of being human. Joy, despair, grief, love, loss.

+ Take care of yourself. It can be so easy to fall into a depression or a rabbithole in a binge-watch of all this, so much that one can get caught in this lull of very unhealthy thoughts where we forget about these most important parts of being human.

Women who have executive function issues are expected to bear the brunt of household skills while those skills are directly a challenge to their ADHD. Women who balk at this notion are treated as difficult, obstinate, and not feminine enough. blackgirllostkeys.com/adhd/b…

#NEISvoid #DisabilityTwitter What does it mean when your feet turn purple while you're physically exhausted? 😬 Anyone know? I've been diagnosed with PCOS, if that helps.
