So three-quarters of a million people will have paid tribute to the Queen in person. According to the media, this is an overwhelming expression of the nation’s depth of feeling. Yet when a million people marched in London against Brexit, they were somehow enemies of the state…

60 parliamentarians are under investigation for crimes — some for serious cases of sexual assault and rape. These elected public officials must be held to a higher standard than private citizens — they hold weekly surgeries with vulnerable constituents. Suspension is a minimum.

How is the latest Home office wheeze to ‘detain and ban’ refugees and asylum seekers arriving by small boats, any different to what they are doing today? Or is this simply fodder for pig-ignorant racists who might be tempted to vote Reform UK?

Note to Jeremy Hunt: The “whole country” did not make the decision to leave the EU. We have a minority of mostly elderly bigots and economic illiterates to blame for that decision.

Because MPs hold weekly surgeries with vulnerable constituents and because they are supposed to be setting an example. The Party had known about the multiple accusations for two years for Pete’s sake — this could have been expedited and has not been!

As I understand it, the name of any person accused of rape is not made public until that person is formally charged. I can’t see any reason why it should be any different for an MP.

Seen some bat shit crazy lines-to-take in my time. But “if you demand a pay rise you’re surrendering to Putin” is pretty close to the top of the list. Who’s coming up with this madness.

Note to the Home Secretary: You can’t be critical of China and the Middle East’s human rights record and send vulnerable refugees to prison indefinitely.

Happy #SocialistSunday lovely twitter family. I loathe capitalism because it's the cause of all the major problems in the world right now, and because it ignores those who aren't able to play the game, for whatever reason. We had a choice of path and we picked the wrong one 💔

Simon Clarke advertising to his constituents that he believes in a low-pay; low productivity UK. Par for the Tory course…
This would absolutely be the right thing to do by the Prime Minister. We need minimum service levels for key services to protect the public from unions that are inflicting sustained misery in pursuit of inflation-busting pay - the private sector is getting nothing like it.

If I were Tom, I’d read more Camus and Sartre… Maybe some Kundera? Marx?
If I were Sunak I’d lean in to how existentially important planning reform is. It’s about the ability of anyone under 40 to have a decent life. It’s also about the future survival of the Tory Party. I’d make planning reform a confidence matter. No point in governing without it.
