Can we PLEASE stop saying "People will still vote Tory despite...". OF COURSE! There'll always be about 40% voters who buy what the Tories sell at elections. And they've ALWAYS been the minority. Fixing the UK isn't about convincing them. It's about the Left working together!

To those saying that "Centre" isn't left. Yeah, sure, but relatively speaking... The Tories have been in power for 46 of the last 76 years. So for as long as any of us have been alive they've been the political median average of UK governments. Anything to the left of that...

Convincing them would still be a lot better than waiting for a fairer electoral system though...

It is and it isn't. We'd still have to get 100% perfect cooperation to win FPTP when the Tories are on 40%. That's how rigged it is. That's why 2019 was so important to win. It was probably the last election that could be won.

The untapped potential of non-voters might be useful.

I’m oh I don’t know, something tells me it might be easier to poach a few wavering Tory types (or just convince them not to vote at all) than to get progressives to work together. Too many people/parties convinced that THEIR WAY is the only way and everyone else is wrong.

Agree with some caveats: Left and centre all working together. Tory vote got down to 30.7% in 1997 when the Sun endorsed Labour instead. Under future PR that the alliance will create, there'll be a viable centre right alternative if they go hard right again.

Centre weren't interested in working with the left in 2019.
