So.... on this second day of Black History Month 2023 🖤 I was published by ⁦@HuffPost⁩! ✊🏿 I thought it was really important to expand on the idea of amplifying the LIFE of Tyre Nichols, rather than magnify the images of his death. 😌 Check it out! huffpost.com/entry/tyre-nich…

I feel like we don’t talk about ✨#miracles✨ enough…like bonafide 🗣️BUT for the grace and mercies of God directly impacting your situation, 👉🏿THIS👈🏿 would not have happened type of miracles. So here goes: My cousin Tomekia Renae Lindsey was laid to rest on Fri, March 17th. /1

She was 45 years young. Under any other circumstance, this would be considered the saddest tragedy. A life cut short. But, let me tell you about my cousin, Meka aka Meek Meek aka Big Meek aka I’M THE BIG SISTER!!! (she has two younger siblings), and why HER LIFE was a miracle /2

of biblical proportion in our family’s eyes 🙏🏿🥹: Tomekia was diagnosed with brain cancer in the mid-80s at age 8. The surgeons operated to remove the tumor, and she spent the next 18 months in the cancer ward of the children’s hospital in Los Angeles, where many of the /3

and preserved HER life for 37 years after a large tumor was extracted out of her BRAIN as a tiny, frail girl. 👏🏿#Miracle, I say.👏🏿 I can’t be convinced otherwise. 😌…At her service the ongoing theme was that she completed her assignment and that she was/is free, in glory, /8

reaping the benefits of her faith. I’m so very proud of my cousin. She is the legit embodiment of answered prayer that I’ve witnessed my entire life. Surrounded by the fervent and deep-rooted prayers of her mom, grandmother, aunts and family for 37 years. She is good. My heart /9

hurts for us though because we are left to suffer her loss, and that of her father who passed in 2020, and mine who passed in 2021😞, and my uncle in 2022. That’s a catastrophic amount of loss in a verrrryyy short amount of time. (It’s not lost on me how common this is lately /10

for so many families.) Before this season, the last funeral I really remember attending was that of my grandmothers who both transitioned 2 weeks apart about 13 years ago. Before that, my grandfather in 1995. So attending family funerals is…a new and heartbreaking experience /11

for me. But, like I said, Tomekia going home 👼🏾 on March 5 after outliving quite frankly EVERYONE’S expectations of her lifespan is just something I am quite in awe of and at peace with. No sad tears here. Long live the legacy of my cousin. As our other cuzzo said, /12

She is a real G. The strongest individual in our family. Hands down. I pray that you all experience the miracles of God in your life, I really do. I believe you deserve to feel what we collectively as a family felt during her homegoing and repast. And it hasn’t been easy, /13

particularly for her mother, my eldest cousin Renae. When you have to care for a physically handicapped special needs child for 45 yrs, that’s no small nor easy task. But HER prayers were answered. She prayed that Tomekia would live to at least see her 16th birthday. Her baby /14

strength and perseverance despite your body continuing to fail you; living to your fullest capability with your strongest, most assertive will; and truly shining 🌟 in the lives of anyone you cross in doing so. Far from easy, but she’s shown me it can be done. /16

🙌🏿🥹👑💐💐💐💐 All hail, Queen Angela Bassett. 💖
Went to dinner tonight at Verse in Toluca Lake. @WayneBrady was performing. With Boyz II Men’s @shawnstockman and All-4-One’s Jamie Jones on stage, they took a moment to show love to the icon, Angela Bassett, in the audience. Standing ovation. What a moment!
