STUDENT DEBT: Last night, @RepAOC called for cancelling student loan debt, and slams the "false narratives that student loan debt is for the privileged. What a ridiculous assertion. Do we really think that a billionaire's child is taking student loans? Come on!"

Maybe if schools were able to teach math and expenses, people would know better than to take out loans they can never pay back. I mean, I didn't run up debt. What's their excuse and why do *I* have to pay for their mistakes?

Think of it as paying forward. You’re likely to reap many benefits from a country that doesn’t indebt a generation.

17-year-olds aren't mature enough to get into debt ✅ Underage children are mature enough to get puberty blockers ✅

You can stop taking hormone blockers and resume your normal puberty. You cannot bankruptcy out of student debt.

Preach! I don’t usually agree with her on much but this hit the nail on the head. For a country that wants a working education system, govt student loans that carry 5-7% interest rates ain’t it. Hopefully they can atleast get us to the same interest rates they are giving banks.

Because what’s more useful a well educated populous or banks increasing our money supply through loans to companies to do financial engineering? I’d venture to say we all benefit from the former and the latter exacerbates the issues of social stability and a winnowing middle clas

I don’t need anything cancelled, but would appreciate reparations for: slavery > Jim Crow > systemic racism. Please add a few zeros for missed opps i.e., lower avg salary, 80s economics that never “trickled down” & “bailout” funds for the wealth I lost in the 2009 housing market.

If the government is going to give out free money, then I’m going to take out student loans. Not a billionaire. Just a taxpayer

Yes, the government should tax rich people more so that people like you can go to school. That is a very reasonable thing to expect in a functioning society and what essentially every other developed nation does.
