A thing I think about is the hypothetical of a very small R majority. If every House candidate currently favored on 538 won, R's would hold a 5-seat majority next year. We have D+5 now and have done a lot, but R+5 would be completely insane and little has been written about that

John Durham is still in the saddle, he should just Leroy Jenkins this and be the first to indict Trump. Nobody would see *that* coming

We lost something profound when we took away the ability of a surly, off-putting stranger to recommend that if you really want to understand "punk" you should maybe give the Ramones a spin before you waste your fifteen bucks on the emo trash the kids are all listening to nowadays

Madison Cawthorn successor follows in his footsteps by shutting out the Smoky Mountain News, which serves rural counties in his district. SMN published critical coverage of Edwards, as they did for his four predecessors (one of whom was a Democrat), which is... what newspapers do
My office makes every effort to respond to media inquiries of reporters with a willingness to report news in a balanced manner and without bias. @SMN_Cory is no such reporter. My office will not waste our time with his inquires. Readers have many other options. Please use them.

This is exactly what I think and it strikes me that it's a little bit of an indictment (get it) of our present politics that this take feels contrarian in 2023
Stop overthinking it: An indictment would be bad for Trump 👇 politico.com/news/magazine/2…

The story does not identify Mr. Costello's attorney, who is the lawyer for Donald Trump's lawyer's lawyer, and who should not be confused with Lanny Davis, who is Donald Trump's former lawyer's lawyer
Robert Costello, Giuliani's lawyer who briefly represented Cohen (and who Cohen claimed dangled a pardon in front of him) may appear before the grand jury Monday in Manhattan. Cohen may then be called to address/rebut Costello nytimes.com/2023/03/19/nyreg…

Once again, DM or reply to me if you have questions about making sure you are receiving emergency notifications, or have questions about who to call and when. Happy to help Capitol Hill staff with safety/security resources and point them in the right direction.
A very good time for Capitol Hill offices to refresh your memories on security protocols, to remind folks about signing up for USCP alerts, to pay closer attention to those alerts if/when you get them, and to increase your situational awareness as you are out and about

I haven't seen Ted Lasso, but Jason Sudeikis delivers a deeply funny cameo performance as half of the Rosencrantz and Guildenstern scout trooper duo at the end of the Mandalorian's first season. For my money this scene is the wittiest comedy Star Wars has ever produced

Me (watching through binoculars): the House is woke! They won't do it!
Expect vote on Thursday to override President Biden's veto of a joint resolution blocking a Labor Department ESG rule, Scalise's office tells @axios But w/ a two-thirds threshold it will almost certainly fail.

movin' on up
Biden's first veto would immediately move him into 3-way tie for 37th on the all-time leader board (with James Monroe and Martin Van Buren), passing 7 presidents who never vetoed a bill- some of whom you'd guess and some you wouldn't. The all-time leader is FDR at 635 vetoes 👑

A noteworthy name-check here. There was a time when the White House had a stated policy of not discussing Greene
I just vetoed my first bill. This bill would risk your retirement savings by making it illegal to consider risk factors MAGA House Republicans don't like. Your plan manager should be able to protect your hard-earned savings — whether Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene likes it or not.

wow, they're using "passionate," "engaged" and, the real killer, "family discussion" .... so it must have been really bad
Jason Smith says the House GOP “family discussion” over the economy went long because members were so engaged. “We've made it a point that is how we legislate in this conference, it's 222. And that's how we'll move— whether it's the budget or whether it's the debt limit.”

Lol, it seems CSPAN feels the same way I do about Jason Smith's frequent claim that "the Republican Party is the party of the working class"
