A 10-year-old girl is raped. The State forces her to remain pregnant and tells her to consider it an “opportunity.” This isn’t Iran. This isn’t Gilead. This isn’t hypothetical. This happened today in Ohio.

10 year old rape victims should not be forced into such a nightmare scenario.

How do you tell that a 10 year old is six weeks and three days pregnant? Does she have a regular period? Or are they dating from the day she was raped?

Notice that the physician who referred the child for the abortion was a "child abuse physician". That's exactly what the 10-year old was suffering from: child abuse. No one will ever convince me otherwise. Forcing her to continue this pregnancy would constitute further abuse.

Your source doesn’t mention the word “opportunity” anywhere, and I assumed that was a direct quote because you quoted it. Do you have another source that states that explicitly?

OH Rep. Schmidt (R) on her abortion ban bill: "Rape is a difficult issue... but if a baby is created, it's human life. Whether that mother ends that pregnancy... the scars won't go away. It's a shame it happens, but there's an opportunity for women no matter how young or old..."
