"A 2Gen approach involves working with families in five key areas: physical health and mental health; early development, learning and care; postsecondary and employment pathways; economic assets; and social capital." Great stuff from @AspenInstitute here: heraldnet.com/opinion/commen…

“It’s good for your state, it’s good for your economy, it’s good for your communities.” Washington @GovInslee makes the case for states taking in more refugees, and not only on compassionate grounds, citing his own state’s experience welcoming Vietnamese refugees decades ago.

.@GovInslee ran for president on a climate agenda – so how does he react to the compromises over climate in Congress? He tells me people should be “frustrated… by the machinations of the Senate,” though he remains “upbeat” about what states can – and must – do.

I’ll be on @cnni with @camanpour at 10 a.m. to discuss the need for climate solutions in the bipartisan infrastructure deal and the opportunity we have in the fight against climate change at @COP26. Tune in.

I accept @jjhorgan. You are on. I have confidence that @SeattleKraken will beat @Canucks tonight. I look forward the victory (and the salmon). Thank you for the welcome to @NHL. I look forward to many years of spirited competition in this new NW rivalry.
Wishing our friends to the south in Washington a warm welcome to the NHL as the @SeattleKraken host the @Canucks in their first ever home game tonight. Hey @GovInslee - how about a wager? Willing to bet some fresh BC sockeye salmon on it?

WA is now home to the world’s first net-zero arena for greenhouse gas emissions. No fossil fuels are consumed for the arena’s daily use. This commitment impacts us now and well into the future. This next step in the building’s history is so gratifying as a native Washingtonian.

We are at the Afghan Refugee Welcome Center in SeaTac to call together community leaders, businesses, and our Afghan neighbors to welcome those who had to flee their homes. Washington is overjoyed to help Afghans.

I’m grateful that @POTUS understands how important it is that the $150 billion designated for the Clean Energy Payment Program must be reserved for climate programs in the final #BuildBackBetterAct.
Since it became clear CEPP wouldn't make it into a final bill, Dems on the Hill have been saying they don't want a $150 billion haircut, but want to invest that $$ in more clean energy programs. Sounds like Biden feels the same way.

As a final agreement on this transformative legislation comes together, it’s clear we must cut emissions – not cut the scale of our response to the climate crisis. The cost of inaction for our economy and our families is too high to underinvest in the President’s climate agenda.

The president and I agree: climate change is an existential threat to humanity. Now is the time to fully fund the climate programs that will make all the difference.
Biden: “The existential threat to humanity is climate change.”

Today, @PattyMurray and I announced the next steps for joint federal-state process on salmon recovery in the Snake River. It will take all options into consideration, including the breaching of the Lower Snake River dams. Read our statement: governor.wa.gov/news-media/i…

Both of us believe that, for the region to move forward, the time has come to identify specific details for how the impacts of breach can, or cannot, be mitigated. Our recommendations will be completed no later than July 31, 2022.
