The decision to bar Jeremy Corbyn on the grounds he lost the 2019 election is ridiculously flimsy, without logic or precedent. On that basis, many other Labour leaders would also be barred.

It is the democratic right of Labour Party members and the affiliated trade unions and socialist societies in the Islington North CLP to choose their Parliamentary candidate. We urge members of the NEC to uphold this vital democratic right at Tuesday's meeting

Reactionary British governments have frequently tried to treat asylum seekers in a brutal way. But they can be defeated.
Margaret Thatcher did this. Asylum seekers housed on the ferry 'Earl William' took to hunger strike. @HackneyAbbott and @jeremycorbyn boarded the ship to show their solidarity. The ship became unmoored in a storm and floated away. All were safely recovered & granted asylum.

Police should not be in schools. Strip-searching children is not an acceptable policy. And it is clearly being used in a racist way. It must end. Black children 11 times more likely to be strip-searched in England and Wales than white peers theguardian.com/uk-news/2023…

The late great Bernie Grant calling on the then Prime Minister to apologise for Britain's role in the Transatlantic slave trade. Sadly, this was one of the last times he spoke in Parliament. His words still ring true today.

Our APPG stands in the proud tradition of the late great Bernie Grant MP, founder of the UK's African Reparations Movement. In one of his last contributions in Parliament, he called for an apology to all peoples of African descent for Britain's role in Transatlantic slave trade.

The Tory press has changed its political line, with lots of nonsense about 'Sunak the problem solver'. Problems such as living standards, the NHS, wages, growth, the Met??? But it means Boris Johnson is being quietly ditched - there is an election coming. thetimes.co.uk/article/boris…

Macron rammed through is pension 'reforms' undemocratically. He now seems to have given freedom to the police to act in completely brutal manner. This is authoritarianism.
Students, women and the elderly beaten in the back. Macron is a real criminal.

Refusing to accept the problem means you cannot be part of the solution. The Met is an obstacle to good policing and so is Mark Rowley. Louise Casey accuses Met police chief of ‘hollow’ reasoning on failings theguardian.com/uk-news/2023…

This is the result of underpay and overwork. Tory ministers know this, so must believe your child's education is worth sacrificing to pay for their handouts to businesses. Teacher vacancies in England 93% higher than pre-pandemic, study finds theguardian.com/education/20…

The government protects energy company profits, even subsidises them with taxpayers' money. The result is misery, closing care homes and an even worse crisis in the NHS. A third of care homes in England have considered closing due to rising energy bills theguardian.com/society/2023…

This is an unworkable plan, as well as immoral. But it is not designed to work, only to see a rotten government through the next set of elections. ‘Draconian’ migration bill could leave tens of thousands destitute or locked up theguardian.com/world/2023/m…
