Grateful for my education, from public school in Midland, Texas, to the University of Texas, and Stanford Law School. Keep the doors of advancement open to all.

@seawiz2⁩ This is the sky in Albuquerque this morning. You’ll have no trouble breathing in NM if you avoid the fires. I recommend Carlsbad Caverns as one stop.

Here’s a map of the Republic of Texas in 1845, when it joined the Union. I’ve been told that Texas gave up its rights to the lands outside its current borders in return for having its debts assumed by the United States.

“We drive out of Dnipro and onto the highway; after a couple of hours we enter the Donbas. On the Donetsk Oblast (region) sign hangs a small flag showing a flower sprouting from a prostrate human. ‘Russian occupiers make the best fertiliser,’ it reads.”

“He shows me what appears to be the business card of a UNHCR official — a psychologist it appears. I look at him. He has the glazed, trembling look of a pilgrim; of a smaller, scrawnier Rasputin (and, disconcertingly, Harry Kane).”

REMINDER: just last week, these Republicans voted against a bill to make it easier to send security aid to Ukraine.

Republicans' war on health care and abortion is fundamentally about taking away our basic freedoms. This is what's at stake.

Thank God for little things.
This little Cottontail bunny was having dinner while my wife and I enjoyed this year’s first grilled hamburgers (or, as we call them, HalBurgers) 20 feet away.

Here’s another view of our little friend eating his greens. It’s a little out of focus. I took this picture through a window.

“Outfitting candidates in cowboy hats or staging hunting photo-ops often seem like crafty ways of signaling cultural proximity to voters. But too-clever-by-half image makeovers only go so far and, at worst, can come off as transparently condescending.”

We see American Avocets during migration, but not in breeding colors. Here’s a rare bird for us. This Indigo Bunting showed up in our backyard last week. I’ve only seen them before on the Gulf Coast during Spring Migration. A Painted Bunting also stopped by, but no pictures.

Backyard, w/sunbathing dog & Chickadee grabbing a bite to eat. My wife saw a Painted Bunting on the hummingbird feeder yesterday. When we moved in this winter the trees in the greenbelt beyond the fence were bare. It’s greened up nicely.
