One of the wisest things I heard in Scoutmaster training. "Never set your scouts up for failure, but allow them to fail." I think that's one of the biggest failures today's parents do. They are afraid of their kids failing and suffering the consequences.

I think there’s a good balance in making sure your kids learn good life lessons while still allowing them a better childhood (as far as material things) than you did. I think the big mistake rich parents makes is bailing them out of every adversity.
