Trump blurbing a book he hasn't read is the closest he's ever come to being a real author.
Note that Trump blurbed the book and sent out a statement urging people to buy it. Oops.

The rational part of my mind says there is no way there could be a direct war between the USA & another great power with nuclear weapons. But another part of my mind is aware that rational calculations don't always prevail.

A key message from Sullivan about what the US is ready to do should Russia further invade Ukraine was this: "Things we did not do in 2014, we are prepared to do now."

The tragedy here is DEEP DENIAL by Chris Cuomo is the best book title since IF I DID IT by OJ Simpson
Chris Cuomo's forthcoming book (originally titled DEEP DENIAL) from a HarperCollins imprint has been pulled. "We do not intend to publish the Cuomo book," a HarperCollins rep tells me.

I would like all the centrist contrarian clowns who egged on the CRT moral panic to look at this video. Hope they are proud of what they mainstreamed.

We asked co-sponsor @EricaForDerry how she thinks teachers should approach a subject like the Three-fifths Compromise in the United States Constitution if HB 1255 -- which explicitly prohibits teaching that the U.S. was founded on racism -- was to become law. #NHPolitics

Oh look, a warning from a powerful figure in Saudi Arabia of "social unrest" if there is too quick a move from fossil fuel.
So here’s a new one: The cowed "majority of “key stakeholders” in industry and politics agreed on the risks of fossil under-investment, but were unwilling to say so openly.” Says CEO or Aramco threatening hell fire unless investment continues ... ft.com/content/89231064-08d6…

One of the founders of Birthright, which is resonant.
Michael Steinhardt, the billionaire hedge fund pioneer and one of New York's most prolific antiquities collectors, has surrendered 180 stolen objects valued at $70 million and been barred for life from acquiring any other relics, officials said Monday. nyti.ms/31DgNCK

1. Just learned that Ghislaine Maxwell has a brother-in-law who died in mysterious circumstances, just as her father had died in mysterious circumstances & Jeffrey Epstein died in mysterious circumstances. Funny how this keeps happening.

2. This is Al Seckel, who was in some marriage with Isabel Maxwell (it's murky whether it was common law or marriage). He was also a Jeffrey Epstein associate. His 2015 death (or rather disappearance) is sketchy.

My god he does look like Zorg.
musk, looking like zorg from the fifth element, continues to pretend he hates subsidies at this WSJ event despite Starlink nabbing nearly a billion in subsidies from the Trump FCC to deliver satellite broadband to some traffic medians

Interesting partisan skew in vaccination in Canada. In USA, CPC and PPC would be one party (Republicans).
Have you been vaccinated against COVID19? 🇨🇦 91% Yes 9% No Yes, by 2021 federal vote: 🔴LPC 99% 🟠NDP 98% ⚜️BQ 97% 🟢GPC 96% 🔵CPC 88% 🟣PPC 41% [Angus Reid, Nov. 26-29, 2021, n=2,005]

This entry in the Encyclopedia of Science Fiction is, in truth, a @john_clute about Frank Herbert, Golden Age Science Fiction, Star Wars, Philip K. Dick and, yes, Villeneuve's Dune: Part One. It's pretty masterful. sf-encyclopedia.com/entry/du…

Formative book #9: I began to assign Julius Scott’s magnificent *The Common Wind* to my students as soon as he finished the dissertation in 1984. It was my honor to help Julius publish this pathbreaking study in Atlantic/maritime/Haitian history with @VersoBooks in 2018.
