Selma Wijnberg and Chaim Engel met and fell in love at the Sobibor killing center. The young Jewish couple made a daring escape during the camp uprising #OTD in 1943 and fled into hiding. They survived the war and immigrated to the United States in 1957.

After the war and after their ordeal in #Sobibor the couple reached the Netherlands where they were considered unwelcome by the secretary of Justice: the couple had married and was considered "Polish" both. They would have to live in Poland. Tried Israel, found peace in the US.
