As strong an argument as there is against defamation laws. Particularly the type we have here. Roman Abramovich wins first round of libel battle over Putin’s People book (via @IrishTimes) irishtimes.com/news/world/uk…

Why is none of this being posted on #Weibo? Why are #PengShuai’s original claims regarding sexual assault and #ZhangGaoli being censored in #China? Why is Global Times Editor @HuXijin_GT posting this stuff on Twitter but not having any of it reported in his newspaper?

The other day I said I agreed with the Biden admin considering a diplomatic boycott of the Olympics but not stopping US athletes from competing. Reading since what is happening with Peng Shuai is making me revise the latter. The IOC should be taking the same hard line as the WTA.

Seems very few people were actually following the #KyleRittenhouse trial closely. After the prosecutions performance and their own witness at times validating the defences argument, I am struggling to see how you could have watched that trial and been surprised by the outcome.

Not saying that he should have been there or that his judgement leading up to placing himself in that position wasn't poor, but it was very obvious from the outset that the legal cases against him was very weak.

Across the globe, autocratic leaders are working together to maintain their grip on power. If the 20th century was the story of slow progress toward the victory of democracy, @anneapplebaum writes, the 21st could be a story of the reverse. theatlantic.com/magazine/arc…

Dear people of #Taiwan🇹🇼, @WallaceMick may be Irish, but he does not speak for Ireland🇮🇪. Mick Wallace may be a Member of the European Parliament, but he does not speak for Europe🇪🇺. Ignore this pro-Chinese Communist Party shill. We all do.

A party that promises to repeal this legislation will be immensely popular in a few years time. Especially when reality starts to hit. Climate council unveils recommended carbon budgets up to 2030 (via @IrishTimes) irishtimes.com/news/environm…

The ceremony - which I was at today - has provoked a very weird ultra-nationalism in some people in the south. I’ve had people emotionally explain to me their pain at partition…seemingly unaware that my accent gives away the fact I grew up in the North.
