Tech advice, please: -Screen has cracked on fairly new iPad 11. When I accepted insurance, was told $29 for unlimited screen repairs. -Asurion now says $229 and will send a new ipad. Can't (or won't) say if its refurbished. -That option would cost me $229 and I'd have to 11s

*two 11s. -- Do I go to a screen repair place? -- Pay the $229 and get a possibly refurbished model to replace a 5-month old model? --Buy a new one and sell cracked screen one? -- Cancel Asurion?

Well, update. Screen repair place is $349. And I've learned that if I let the insurance replace it, I have to send the cracked one back. I think I've uncovered a scam system. I'm going to blow the lid off on this one.

I had a protection plan and didn’t even realize it until I checked the Verizon app. It was like $20 so maybe you’ll luck out

I was told all screen repairs would be $29. Now they are telling me that is phones only.

I’m fairly certain your asurion insurance has apple care services included since its an apple product. I’d call an apple store if you have one near by. I believe ubreakifix are apple certified technicians as well that will honor your insurance deductible.

1: Have you called Apple directly? 2: where did you purchase the iPad? 3: Do you have AppleCare+? Out of warranty screen repair/replacement through Apple will likely be about the same amount as what you are saying you’ll pay for warranty replacement from Asurion?

Almost guaranteed it’ll be a refurb. Asurion replaced my phone SIX times during my last 2 year contract. Who’d of thought if you send out phones someone has already turned in because they didn’t work… they may not work.
