You know you’ve been on the road too much when: You go to the front desk frustrated and tell the receptionist your room key that she just gave you won’t work- and she points out to you that you’re using the key from the hotel you just left in another city. 🤦🏽‍♂️

My travel posts seem to evoke the most feedback and passion. Why do I post them? Because many Americans have no choice but to travel. Yet it doesn’t have to be full hazard suit vs “Screw everyone/ everything! We’re all gonna get it!” It’s about balancing protections vs risks…

When weighing risk and benefits of engaging in an activity or taking a precaution, I think of MTV: M: Masking T: Access to Testing and Treatment V: Are you and the people you’re around vaccinated (and boosted?). What is Ventilation like?

Every situation is different. And I think it’s helpful for people to see how I - a doctor and public health expert who often has to travel and engage with others for my job- will balance risk and benefit in different situations/ environments…

The purists (“hide in your homes!”vs I’m not taking any precautions- for you or anyone else) are who I often converse/argue with, but my audience is everyone else. The people who are just trying to make sense of a complex world, when everything they hear is simplistic hyperbole.

When you have to travel and you’re trying your best to be safe by limiting how much you eat out, but one of the top rated Japanese restaurants in town is across the street. 😋 That’s Seabass, lobster tempura, and rolls, on a towel, on a hotel room bed… #roadwarrior

To those who ❤️ Trump, I’d like to remind you he was in no small part responsible for the availability of #covid19 vaccines, and is vaccinated. And he’s encouraged people to talk to their doctors about it. To those who hate Trump, this tweet isn’t for you- but still get your 💉!
The #COVID19 vaccines and operation warp speed are easily the greatest and most life saving medical achievement of the last 50+ years. 👇🏽

"The study—published on June 23rd in Lancet Infectious Diseases—found that in the first year of vaccine rollout, jabs saved the lives of 19.1m-20.4m people. Without vaccines... roughly three times as many people would have died from covid in 2021 alone." economist.com/graphic-detail…

Getting ready to travel for a conference. I always test “in” (to protect fellow attendees) and test “out” to protect my family. With as much money as organizations waste on crap swag at these meetings, there’s really no excuse not to provide everyone with two $10 tests. 🤦🏽‍♂️

Regardless of how you feel about abortion, it’s important to know that facts. 👇🏽 One important fact? Black women are 3x as likely to get an abortion as white women. So abortion policy has racial implications. Abortion in the U.S.: What the data says | pewresearch.org/fact-tank/20…

Great thread- and I get that things are really bad. Seen it myself. What frustrates me is if the airlines (and government) know it’s this bad, why do I have to buy trip insurance on top of my already overpriced flight, to account for problems they knew were likely to happen?🤷🏽‍♂️
Just fwding these : Flying this summer is ROUGH!!! I feel like as a Flight Attendant I should attempt to share some tips to get you through airline travel for the foreseeable future. ✈️✈️ 1. Things are not good..... if its less than 7 hours - DRIVE! I'm not kidding.
