The court claims a right to abortion is not "deeply rooted in this Nation’s history and tradition." Is that true? I searched 18th century newspapers because I wanted to learn how people really felt about abortion at America's founding. Answer: they *loved* abortion. Thread! 🧵

So weird that trans women have been very loud about Roe vs. Wade and terfs have been strangely silent today. It's almost like one of these groups is feminist and the other only has it in their name.

This. We need massive, peaceful, ongoing Occupy-style demonstrations at our seats of power.
Replying to @JYSexton
The overturning of Roe will result, unless there’s massive protest and a forced sea change, in neoliberal “solutions.” Meaning a system of oppression and suffering for the poor and vulnerable and premium alternatives for the wealthy.

That's great, but we simply can't depend on the largesse of corporations in protecting our fundamental rights. Also, what about all the people who don't work for these companies?
These big US companies say they'll cover abortion travel for their employees: JPMorgan Chase Citi Tesla Apple Amazon Match Meta Microsoft Disney CVS Biogen Yelp Cigna T-Mobile Airbnb Patagonia trib.al/dpCqcw1

God bless trans men and transmasculine non-binary folks who have been dealing with endless bullshit FOR YEARS because they had the audacity to say: “We get pregnant, too.” Every single one of you who blanched at this should feel ashamed today.

In Mexico 🇲🇽 when abortion rights were up for debate they marched to the presidential palace & attempted to burn it down. The Mexican government quickly decriminalized Abortion nationwide soon after that.

The thought of Musk losing $14,000,000,000 to own this septic tank almost makes it seem worthwhile to me.

Whether you like it or not, the fight against transphobia is one of the key fights against fascism of our generation. You're living through it right now. Sitting and watching and doing nothing is an action that favours the fascists and they will not stop

Great piece on the importance of allyship and intersectionality. One line that stood out was "My dad made clear that the only thing worse than being gay was being trans." given the absurd claim from some that parents are trans-ing their kids out of homophobia.
I’ve written an honest piece in @MetroOpinion about learning not to be transphobic I’m sharing this story because I want to make it clear It’s okay to learn. It’s okay to ask questions I believe we can help people understand and be trans inclusive metro.co.uk/2022/06/18/i-use…

This flag design really seems to get a lot of disproportionate hate and I can’t quite put my Black trans finger on why.

Sad to say there doesn't need to be someone wandering onto the track. A lot of people would pull the lever just for fun.

My daughter's favorite band dropped a teaser video for their new album today and now she's watching YouTubers analyze it like it's the Zapruder Film.

This wonderful thread is full of farm-fresh goodness and green pea-ness. Wait, that's terrible, I can't say that...
"Where do I stand on the -- on the WHAT? The "Transgender Question"? Well for one thing, sir, I recall the last few usages of that particular phraseology. A group of millions is not a question -- I have not yet finished speaking -- not a question, but a demographic."

Important thread. Some say we're overreacting to the "Helens" video when we label it a call to genocide. Perhaps. But I'm sure there were people telling my mother in occupied France not to worry until her father was sent to a camp and she and her family were forced into hiding.
🧵There are 10 stages of genocide. In some cases, these stages can happen concurrently. Right now I'm seeing 5 of those stages playing out when it comes to trans people: Classification, Symbolism, Discrimination, Dehumanization, Polarization. Pay attention.
