Neal's behaviour on this trip has been an embarrassment to US diplomacy. The note taking will have been taking place at @USAinNI and at the @StateDept who will no doubt be making apologetic phone calls after his departure,

The only purpose of the Northern Ireland Protocol is to punish the UK for Brexit. The EU’s own experts said that a hard customs border was never needed in or around Northern Ireland. It’s time for the protocol to go, says Graham Gudgin spiked-online.com/2022/05/25…

.@VDombrovskis from @EU_Commission says that while land methods are being explored to transport grain out of Ukraine, they are no match for the Black Sea routes currently blocked by Russia. Watch here: wef.ch/3lGr4ED #wef22

.@JimAllister is right. Unionists shouldn’t waste time engaging with Richard Neal who is working to an entirely partisan political agenda.

Foreign Secretary speaks of urgency so are we to expect a similar expedited committee stage for the legislation through a committee of the whole house as has been proposed for the legacy legislation?

Plenty of news today but the visit of @trussliz to businesses affected by the protocol may be of the greatest long term significance. belfasttelegraph.co.uk/news/…

Visited @McCulla_Ireland to talk about our solution to fix the Protocol with a green lane between GB and NI and a red lane for EU trade. This would enable goods to flow freely around the UK whilst protecting the EU single market.

It appears that clerical work really doesn't need to be done in offices full time anymore; when you think of the vast infrastructure, expense and congestion around commuting, that can only be a good thing.
Office occupancy is around at about 2/5ths of its pre-pandemic average. WFH is steady at 60% it appears.

EU still waffling on about their October proposals. Business groups have already said they don't go nearly far enough, never mind that it isn't even close to acceptable for Unionists. UK command paper proposals are the bare minimum.
Replying to @tconnellyRTE
8/ “That represented a very significant advance on the EU’s previous position. It wasn’t reciprocated by the UK government. But the UK govt should come with detailed proposals particularly around the movement of goods from UK to NI...

If 🇪🇺 don’t like 🇬🇧 signalling the need to act unilaterally (as is our right under the Northern Ireland Protocol they signed) then all Brussels has to do is lift their boycott on negotiating They’ve wasted our time for 18 months, their feelings are irrelevant at this point

But why won't Unionists engage in talk of a UI, tho.
The NI Unionists increasingly remind me of the Afrikaners in the dying days of apartheid. Almost alone against the world, except for some friends in a right-wing Tory gov in London.
