What are your thoughts about An Jung-geun? My limited understanding is that he was an important pan-Asianist and fighter against imperialism, but was also very close with the Catholic Church, which seems like a colonial influence

Catholicism in Korea fwiw definitely allowed Koreans to maintain their traditions and confucian/buddhist rituals
