Last Tuesday: 6-3 #SCOTUS ruling in Carson makes it *much harder* for states to decline to fund religious schools.
Today: 6-3 ruling in Kennedy makes it *much harder* for public schools to keep religious practice out of extracurriculars.

This argument that post-Dobbs GOP states will provide gov't services is dumb, but here's why -- providing these services was a legal way to reduce abortion demand pre-Dobbs, yet none of the pro-life legislators bothered then. They certainly won't care now...
They didn't do this when it would have been, in theory, an available way to reduce legal abortions, why would they turn around and do it now?

Marist poll has Dems +7 on the generic ballot. That's the biggest Dem margin in any 2022 poll.
The story notes GOP was +3 in April. Some suggesting a Roe effect -- a 10-point shift!
But Marist also showed Dems +5 in May, +5 in Nov. and +8 in Sept. Has been a good poll for Dems.

This misrepresentation from Gorsuch on behalf of SCOTUS is super messed up.
Gorsuch makes it sound like, this was a personal thing, when in reality the guy was leading a prayer sessions at midfield!
And speaking of sketchy, the way the majority portrays the actual facts in this case (to try to downplay the coercion issue) is so problematic that Justice Sotomayor has to include pictures in her dissent to show readers what *really* happened here:

Two things:
1) Rhetoric matters, making good arguments works with voters, pound these points over and over
2) This is why we cannot engage on weak rhetoric, like defund, trans, etc. We can support them, we can't build a movement around them. The country isn't ready for that.

Douthat's prediction is delusional. There is a very high correlation between states that now ban abortion and states with the highest maternal and infant mortality rates. These states had plenty of time to pass pro-parent, pro-child policies. They refused. nytimes.com/2022/06/25/opini…

The “school choice” messaging is eerily deceptive. Just look at this.
“Fund students instead of systems.” It doesn’t even fucking make sense. But it sounds nice. I really hate how much of politics is just fucking marketing
BREAKING: Arizona Senate just passed a bill to fund students instead of systems.
This will be the most expansive school choice initiative in the nation.
All families will be able to take their children's education dollars to the education providers of their choosing.
