If the DUP don't want to do the job, they could not sign in and forfeit their salaries. But they won't, of course.
They'll just stop every other MLA from doing all of the job they were elected to do.
I told the SOS, anyone blocking election of Speaker should lose their salary.
I can’t find the tweet asking me this but the answer is yes. If the newly elected MLAs sign the roll but don’t elect the Speaker they will still get their wages. #stormont #onthehill

This is why we press the issue of reform to both UK & Irish gov's this week. And we will continue to do so, even if an Executive is established we must ensure the ability to hold it to ransom by one party is removed.
Alliance deputy leader Stephen Farry said not to nominate a new Stormont speaker would be “extremely irresponsible”.
