Heartbreaking stories!
Malnutrition cases in Afghanistan: The Village's Charity Foundation covered (facebook.com/vcfound/posts/4…) a 4-year old orphan, suffering from microcephalus. His father died of cancer 3 years ago. Due to malnutrition, his body can't grow normally. He usually feels severe pain.

Update: DABS says the damaged tower has been repaired, and one circuit of the 220 kV transmission line has been reconnected. 60% of the imported electricity from Uzbekistan is now injected into the grid. The 2nd circuit will be reconnected tomorrow. Kudos to the DABS crew!

“Ahmed’s case is one of mistaken identity. Although the US realised they had the wrong man within two days, they took him to Afghanistan and tortured him in black sites for 545 days. The abuse he was subjected to is documented in a US Senate torture report.”
🚨 BREAKING: Our client, Ahmed Rabbani, has been cleared for release from Guantánamo, a unanimous decision by six US Government agencies. Detained without charge or trial for 19 years, Ahmed has never met his son, Jawad, who was born after he was taken into US custody. 🧵1/3

The US government received $17.2 million in application fees to accept Afghan refugees on humanitarian grounds. However, not a single application has been approved thus far. 120 organizations now call for transparency in the process.

So out of the $1.2 billion promised, $900 mil will go to the neighboring countries, $100 mil for admin cost (lucrative salaries & contracts for consultants). The logic of capitalism/ neoliberalism is simple: create a crisis, exploit the poor and maximize the profit of the rich.
The IMF says Iran, Pakistan & Tajikistan will need a combined $900MM to host at least one million Afghan refugees as Afghanistan's economic woes could accelerate refugee exodus. @gzeromedia #GraphicTruth gzeromedia.com/the-graphic-t…

When Nawaz Sharif said the same thing, PTI would lash out at them for solving Pakistan’s problems as soon as they governed. This offensive-defensive game in Pakistani politics by the elite has badly affected the poor for 70 years. Unfortunately, nobody represents the middle class
.@Asad_Umar: "Commodity cycles will adjust in a 3 to 6 month time frame...A year from now, the situation should be more positive, but it will be a rough few [coming] months for inflation."

Not sure why @CNN’s @clarissaward or any other western media did not interview the officials for the promotion of virtue and prevention of vice department in Saudi Arabia that existed for decades. No major reporting by western media on @salman_alodah or political prisoners in KSA
Dr Abdul Rahman Sanad, The President of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice in #SaudiArabia, says that forbidding evil does not mean removing it and this is the path of Daesh and the Ikhwan. 🤦‍♂️

This is Herat city in Afghanistan. Historically and culturally, perhaps it’s one of the most significant cities in Asia. This city has witnessed the rise and fall of so many civilizations, from the Achaemenid and Sassanids, all the way to modern day Afghanistan. 1/3

DABS, MoD, and factory owners from Kandahar visited the Bagram airfield to inspect the 56 MW thermal power plant. DABS concluded that the generators are in good condition. However, there’s a mismatch between the generators' frequency (60Hz) and the Afghan grid (50Hz).

A Technical firm will be recruited to work on downgrading the frequency and adequate synchronization with the grid. Based on the consultants finding and the prime minister's instruction, the power plant will be relocated to Kandahar.

DABS says a 220 kV transmission line circuit was tripped due to an explosion in Qala Murad Baig, Kabul, thus disrupting power supply to Kabul, Nangarhar, and Laghman. DABS crew arrived at the site, and repair work started.

When the two #Michaels were released from China after spending more than three years in prison, it was breaking news globally. However, this story cannot make it to the headlines. Torturing and unlawfully imprisoning an innocent Afghan man for 14 years is not worth reporting?
🚨BREAKING: A US court has ruled that our client Asadullah Haroon Gul’s imprisonment in Guantánamo is unlawful. In this landmark ruling, Asadullah has become the first Guantánamo detainee in 10 years to win a habeas corpus case. 🧵 1/4 reprieve.org/uk/2021/10/20/a…

I wrote about Asadullah Haroon Gul last year:
Disclaimer: This is not an expert opinion, rather personal reflection & thoughts. I wrote my thoughts on the analogy of Sushant Sign Rajput and Asadullah Haroon (The last detained Afghan in Guantanamo prison) how the 2 reacted to depression and loneliness👇facebook.com/mohsin.amin.714…
