Today First Sergeant J. L. Crabb attended the swearing-in ceremony of Avery County Sheriff Mike Henley. Henley was sworn in by Court of Appeals Judge Jeffrey Carpenter. Formerly members of @NCSHP, both Henley and Carpenter were classmates in the 93rd Basic School.

Last week, @NCSHP members in Watauga County joined with partner agencies for the Hands Across the Border campaign on US421 at the Tennessee state line. This checkpoint was a combined effort to increase traffic safety awareness, reduce collisions and combat impaired driving.
@NCSHP Wilkesboro Police recently conducted an enforcement blitz in Wilkes County. The operation targeted US421 and included the Breath Alcohol Testing Unit from @ncdhhs. @NCSHP reminds you to please obey the speed limit, utilize seat belts and never drive while impaired.

On June 21, at 11:29 p.m., a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle while walking on US117 near Porters Lane Rd in Rocky Point. Investigators are searching for a dark green passenger vehicle that fled the scene. Please call @NCSHP at 910-296-1311 if you have information.
Today students from The Garner Academy visited the @NCSHP Training Academy and Driving Track for an up-close look at the various types of duties and responsibilities that our members perform. Members from the Interdiction, Aviation and Motorcycle units were among the presenters.
@NCSHP is once again joining forces with law enforcement partners in adjoining states to conduct quarterly, concentrated highway traffic enforcement periods this year as part of the @FMCSA SafeDRIVE campaign (Distracted Reckless Impaired Visibility Enforcement) from June 21-23.
On June 17, @NCSHP members from Troops D & E came together to support Jennifer Covington at the Haywood Cancer Center in High Point. The group surprised her as she exited the hospital after completing her last chemotherapy treatment!

Last week, members of the @NCSHP Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Section took part in the @NCTrucking 2022 Truck Driving Championship in Raleigh. The event recognizes North Carolina truck drivers for their commitment to safety and professionalism during their driving careers.
@NCSHP Trooper E. S. Bradshaw has returned to full duty this month after suffering a major cardiac event earlier this year. The @NCSHP family is ecstatic to have him back on the roads of Forsyth County! Our continued prayers go out to him and his family.
