There is an absolute commitment by most politicians to denying the existence of people who don't have cars because they can't afford them. It feels like the aim is to shame those people into silence and to make them aspire to car ownership because "everyone else has a car".

Or we accept that humans are fallible, those carrying the most energy have the most responsibility and we can design better systems to mitigate the fact that people do get things wrong.
Start by making pedestrians take responsibility when crossing roads. Far too many looking at phones. Bring back the green cross code man. Or woman or child…..whatever it takes.
