A lot of historical figures’ cautionary remarks are lost on their contemporaries who lack the benefit of hindsight. For instance, George Washington’s farewell address exhortation “Don’t forget to click the bell and comment below” only started making sense to historians in 2006.

I first read she was going to be “East Asian”, but now that she’s revealed to be South West Asian, yeah this seems like a plausible reading.

Way to miss the point.
If they reimagined the entire Mystery Inc gang as South Asian Characters, and Scoob as a big ol' Chow Chow (or, better yet, a Shiba Inu! "Very Ruh Roh, much Zoinks"), then people wouldn't hate on it so much.
You got people pissed because Velma is South Asian in this version—"THAT'S NOT THE CHARACTER!"—and this is a reminder that this ain't a documentary; it's based on a show about a talking dog. Velma can be whatever they want her to be.
Don't like it? Then don't watch.
