Super honored to be listed along side my favorite climate sheroes & heroes. Especially happy about the recognition that it is important to talk about climate justice along with climate science and climate governance. Thank you, @ClimateReality. #ClimateActionNow #ClimateJustice

This is the second in the @CarbonBrief series on Loss and Damage.
Small island countries often say they have been asking for #LossAndDamageFinance for more than 30 years. For the 2nd piece in @CarbonBrief's loss and damage week I've traced the history of this idea from its inception, as the world prepares for #COP27 interactive.carbonbrief.org/…

Cutting down pristine forests in a world of #ClimateCrisis is criminal. On top of that #AdaniGroup is colluding with the State to traumatize #adivasis (indigenous people) @MaryLawlorhrds

A shocking moment during #ClimateWeekNYC last week. At an evening event, I asked for a show of hands: who was confident we’ll be at half global emissions by 2030? 🧵(1/7)

You must have been living under a rock to believe anything other than this: "Many progressive commentators similarly believe that countering climate change requires a fundamental reordering of the West’s political and economic systems." #transformation #ClimateCrisis

An important thread on the shallowness of some big name policy proposals being exposed as nothing more than hogwash. It's focused on the UK but is equally apt to what's happening in the U.S. #ClimateCrisis #Greenwashing
🧵UK gvt is having a bonfire of #environmental protection & the conservation orgs that normally shy away from politics have finally reached their limit & are openly criticising. The #greenwash of #NetZero #DasguptaReview etc are now clear to all. Hate to say it: told you so

3) Forests do not die or need cutting after 100 years. Pine trees can live up to half a millennium and even old in the very North. Additionally, we need dead wood. You cannot have forests without dead wood as they are important for our forest ecosystems due to providing habitats.

Spot on as always Kate.
The UK government's ruthless and reckless policies that "go for growth” require us all to ask the essential questions that Donella Meadows - mother of systems thinking - set out decades ago. So join me in answering these questions... 1/n

But aren’t you missing the part of @DavidMalpassWBG (& @jrockstrom) argument about the development harm of rich countries cutting off gas finance for poor nations with no historic CO2 contribution? invidious.fdn.fr/qAC4ZaHp9vg

The areas that get lots of sunlight are mostly uninhabited, low-value land owned by the federal government. Adequate transmission could fix a lot of problems.
