This is where we need to be headed
In the Netherlands, a quarter of all journeys are made by bicycles. In terms of environmental benefit, this is equivalent to planting 54 million trees a year. 🇳🇱🚲🌳 wef.ch/2L1m3FJ

I will never understand how those things work. How does me cycling equate to any number of trees being planted? Are these trees we don't need to plant because I don't drive and therefore my car doesn't produce CO2 which then doesn't have to be turned back into O2 by trees?

Yes they are trees we don’t need to plant as you aren’t producing co2 with your car 🙂

Completely agree, the only problem is the UK is hilly, the Netherlands is flat so it’s a lot less effort to use a bike to get around. There is also an issue regarding space for cycle lanes as most roads barely have room for 2 cars to pass each other (at least where I come from).

You'll need to make the UK flatter then.

I would love to bike to work . It looks amazing in the Netherlands doesnt it!. I chose to move NHS Trusts from one 11 miles away to 23 miles away & a motorway inbetween. I'd need to get fitter as the first 3 roads from my house have the word HILL in them..they are killer roads.
