Covid rates among 10-14 year olds are higher than they've been at *any* previous point in the pandemic. Could you tell me again why now is the right time to ditch masks in secondaries, @nadhimzahawi?

So they are getting it again as this age group were highest in October 1/2 term? Which meant they missed their in school vaccinations when the criteria changed to 1st jab after 3 months after infection , so most only had 1st January. Marvellous 馃檮

Please could I ask where your chart is from so I can share with school to try and persuade them to reinstate protections? Thank you!

It's a plot of freely available data that anyone can access from the UKHSA Coronavirus dashboard: api.coronavirus.data.gov.uk/鈥

If masks do make a difference I suspect these numbers are largely down to 10 + 11 yr olds still at primary, so it could get worse when masks are stopped at secondary.

Masks were stopped in classrooms last week

Do these numbers include reinfections, or are they not counted in this data?

No, still no reinfections on the dashboard, so the real number of cases (let alone infections) is no doubt considerably higher.
